Waking up at 5am on a weekday usually means one of two things for me: rushing out of the house to catch a flight, and work (with a quick session at the gym of course). However, this one morning was different. Several of our female members got a real treat from Toyota Australia out at Wakefield Park for an 86 Ladies Drive Day!
The weather wasn’t playing nice on the drive down to Wakefield with rain continually pouring, I was a little concern about how it will affect the entry numbers as there were several first timers who will be taking part but to my surprise, all 16 participants rocked up!
Toyota pulled out all stops for the day for our female members with Rick Bates and his team assisting the girls in both theory and practical side of advance driving.
To ensure that the girls will have a great day without a worry in the world, Toyota threw in not just a whole fleet of 86’s in auto and manuals for the girls to use and get this… an instructor assigned to every 86 provided.
And it did not just stop there… Leanne Tander was the star of the day being there to help the girls with her wisdom, and to provide them hot laps around the circuit!
Eventually mother nature showed some mercy and it started to dry out where we saw a lot of quality driving from the girls and improvements all round for everyone. Some even picked up how to drive manual by the end of the day!
All in all, it was quite an eventful day for the girls filled with nothing but smiles and laughter all day long!
Many thanks to Toyota Australia for such a great day and looking forward to the next event.
Enjoy the pics :)
Asking for last minute tips for their every first session ever out on the track.

Gourmet by pit lane. Fancy a roast for lunch between sessions, yes please!
