I’ve had these tyres on for 6 months now and with Tyres being one of the most talked about topic on our facebook club page, I’ve decided to give my review on tyres!
Have you ever had a velcro wallet?
I sure have and when you open and close it, it just stays glued together and sticks. Toyo R888 is exactly like that.
The R888 has served me well. Its the sort of tyre for those track users looking for that extra rubber to stick to the tarmac. With the shift sidewall it helps and it is a very easy to drive on. With the temperature and psi in check it definitely sticks to the road.
What surprised me was that in the wet it held up really well and it was something I did not expect due to running on a previous brand of semi slicks on the road.
Overall the R888 is a great tyre, whether tracking and light daily driving around to the shops to pick up groceries it is a great tyre to drive on if you can put up with the howling sounds it produces while going to the shops. But that shouldn’t be a bother because its real purpose and use is for the track.
Previously used ad08r, rs3 on the 86 and lap times are proven on the r888 from the track day at south circuit (1:06.4560)!
